I spent some time this weekend out at the Norman Public Library, well in-between the new and old public libraries, to be more exact. Norman residents spent time moving the Folk Tales section of the main library across the park in a human chain involving children and adults alike. Forming the chain took some work to get the books moving smoothly from start to finish, but all worked out in the end. I was standing near a gentleman who was visiting his daughter who attends OU and near a librarian who works at UCO, but lives in Norman. I got to meet a couple of really great kids and their mom, as well. They seemed to know all the titles as they passed by.
Norman residents approved the funding for the new public library on Acres and the East library four years ago with a sales tax. The library cost $39 million. The library has 3 floors, modern artwork, and other updates from the existing library.
